In Franklin County, since there are no mines, most towns were farm communities. As such, once suburban sprawl came in the 1950s and 1960s, many towns were swallowed up by the city of Columbus and other cities and towns. A few communities have seen a resurgence of community identity, such as Franklinton and Clintonville.
