Miyan yakuwa is a sour Nigerian soup made from roselle hibiscus leaves. It is consumed in northern Nigeria and served with tuwo or rice.

Procedure[edit | edit source]

  1. Heat some vegetable oil in a pot. Add the meat, onions, and maggi cubes. Fry for a few minutes until the meat is browned.
  2. Blend the fresh peppers, tomatoes, and garlic to a paste. Add to the meat mixture, and cook for a few minutes.
  3. Add the ground peanuts. Add seasoning cubes, water, and sorrel leaves. Bring to a boil, then simmer for a few minutes.
  4. Adjust the seasoning to taste. Serve with rice or tuwo.
