- The first meters appeared in 1953.
- All stamps have “MAURITIUS” in the frank.
- Instead of Meter Numbers the stamps show a locally assigned Identification Number.
- The stamps are grouped according to appearance and usage:
- A – Franks with simulated perforation outer border
- B – Franks with straight line outer border
- C – Digital stamps with 2D bar code
- PO – Franks generated only by machines in post offices
GROUP A: Franks with simulated perforation outer border[edit | edit source]
- a. Meter number without prefix
- b. TM is arc with solid ornament below
- a. Post Office stamp, town mark contains "PO" after the town name
GROUP B: Franks with straight line outer border[edit | edit source]
B1. Hasler “Mailmaster” (MV).
- Large, square frank with double-line border.
- “POSTAGE PAID” vertical at both sides.
- Identification number in bottom panel.
- One meter only, “HA 01”.
- TM: DC
- V/F: 00.00
B2. Hasler “Mailmaster” (MV).
- Horizontal frank notched at top corners.
- Horizontal line ornaments at sides.
- Small blossoms in lower corners.
- Value figures preceded by "R".
- Identification number with “HA” prefix.
- A. Identification number above bottom frame line
- B. Identification number breaks bottom frame line

B2.1. Hasler "Mailmaster” (MV).
- Frank as type B2 but taller.
- Value figures are not preceded by "R".
- Identification number with "HA" prefix above bottom frame line.
- A. Nine hash marks (dashes) at the sides of the frank
- B. Seven hash marks at the sides (seen with meters HA 01 and 09)

B2.2. Hasler "Mailmaster” (MV).
- This appears to be a temporary frank, possibly crafted from a rubber die to serve while a proper replacement die was being procurred.
- This stamp is found only with meter HA09 which is also found as Type B2A prior to 2007 and Type B2.1B after 2007.

B3. Pitney Bowes-GB “5000” series (MV).
- Frank similar to Type B2 but open at the sides.
- Date figures raised in relation to value figures.
- A. Identification number with “A” prefix
- B. Identification number with “PB” prefix

B4. Pitney Bowes-GB ”6300” (MV).
- Similar to Type B3 but closed at sides except at top.
- Without horizontal dashes at left.
- Date and value figures on same level.
- Identification number with “A” or “P.B.A” prefix above bottom frame line.
- TM: DC
- V/F: ≋0.00
B5. Pitney Bowes-GB “Paragon” (MV).
- Frank similar to Type B3 but taller and with thick-lettered “MAURITIUS”.
- “PAID” at right flush with edge of frank.
- Date and value figures on same level.
- Identification number with “PB”, "PS", or “PT” prefix breaks bottom frame line.
- TM: DC

- a. Post Office stamp, town mark contains "PO" after the town name
B6. Pitney Bowes-GB “A/B900” (MV).
- Similar to Type B4 but taller and without horizontal dashes at sides.
- Value figures large.
- Identification number with “A” prefix above bottom frame line.
- One line above M#.
- TM: DC

B7. Pitney Bowes “EasyMail” (digital).
- Similar to Type B6 but larger, with two lines above M#.
- Identification number with “PB” prefix breaks bottom frame line.
- “R C” above value figures.

B8. Pitney Bowes-GB “A/B900” (MV).
- Frank frame similar to Type B4 (closed and with hash marks at the sides) but with "RS" at left and "POSTAGE/PAID" reading down at right.
- The value figures are large as with Type B6.
- Identification number with "PB" prefix breaks bottom frame line.

B9. Pitney Bowes-GB “A/B900” (MV).
Group C: Digital stamps with 2D bar code[edit | edit source]
C1. Neopost (digital), 2014.
- Rectangular frank, printed in blue, with postal service logo at top. The logo consists of:
- • small "MAURITIUS" above a large "POST" with a paper airplane in the "O"
- • very small "more than just letters" above "POSTAGE PAID"
- Below the logo are the value figures, date, and meter number.
- M# with "N" prefix.
- At left of the frank is the mailer's identification at top above a square 2D bar code left of various tracking codes.
