- The earliest meter stamp seen is from 1970. All stamps are inscribed “QATAR” or “STATE of QATAR”.
GROUP A: Stamps from mechanical postage meters[edit | edit source]
- A1. Pitney Bowes-GB “Automax” (MV). [Scarce]
- Upright, nearly square frank with simulated perforation border.
- Country name in curved panel at top.
- “RIYALS/ POSTAGE” at bottom above meter number.
- M# with “P.B.” prefix

- V/F: =0.oo
- A2.1. Neopost “205” (MV).
- Square frank with straight line border.
- “QATAR” at top left, “RIYALS” above “POSTAGE” at bottom flanked by “N” at left and meter number at right.
- Date figures are tall.
- TM: SC

- A2.2. Neopost “2205” (MV).
- Very similar to Type 2.1 but the frank is wider and the spacing between the town mark and frank is wider.
- The date figures are much shorter than with Type 2.1.
- Meter number prefix /'N".

- A3. Hasler “Mailmaster” (MV). [Scarce]
- Upright frank with simulated perforation outer border and straight line inner border.
- Country name in Arabic at top and English as "STATE OF QATAR" immediately below.
- “Dh” and meter number above horizontal line at bottom.
- M# with “H” prefix
- A. Frank 27-28 mm wide (shown)
- B. Frank 30 mm wide

- A4.1. Pitney Bowes-GB “5000” series (MV).
- Small, horizontal frank with simulated perforation border.
- Date figures are raised in relation to value figures.
- M# with “P.B.” prefix low between TM and frank.

- A4.2. Pitney Bowes-GB “6300” (MV). [Scarce]
- Similar to Type 4 but the frank is narrower with "POSTAGE" above the meter number at bottom.
- Date and value figures are on the same level.
- M# with “P.B.” prefix at bottom center.

- A4.3. Pitney Bowes-GB “6600” series (MV).
- Large, square frank with simulated perforation border.
- M# with “PB” prefix breaks bottom frame line.

- Similar to Type A4.3 but wider than tall.
- The value figures are widely spaced.
- M# with “PB” prefix breaks bottom frame line.

- Post Office stamp.
- Frameless design on white, self-adhesive label.
- Pre-printed country name and postal logo at top left, “Postage Paid” at top right.
- Point of sale data added below.

B2. Neopost "IS5000" (digital).
- Square frameless design with 2D bar code across the bottom.
- At top left is "Q-POST" above the meter number and a six-digit code.
- At top right is a logo for the Qatar postal system.
- At center are the value figures.
- M# with "NP500" prefix.
